Description

PADI Open Water course is arguably the most popular dive program in the world and your ticket to a lifetime of intense adventure below the surface. If you’ve always wanted to take scuba diving lessons, experience unparalleled adventure and see the world beneath the waves, this is where it starts. Get your scuba diving certification with the PADI Open Water Diver course – the world’s most popular and widely recognized scuba course. Millions of people have learned to scuba dive and gone on to discover the wonders of the aquatic world through this course.

To enroll in a PADI Open Water Diver course (or Junior Open Water Diver course), you must be 10 years old or older. You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.

Open Water Course Overview

The Open Water Course includes five knowledge development sessions that cover basic diving physiology, physics, and safe dive planning. This foundational theory provides the necessary knowledge to ensure your safety before, during, and after diving. The course also includes five confined water (pool) sessions, where you will learn essential skills, such as removing water from your mask without surfacing, safe diving practices, and performing the PADI ‘buddy check’ to ensure your equipment is correctly assembled and functioning.

You will receive a link to the Open Water eLearning module, an electronic format of the Open Water Crew Pack, allowing you to complete all theory components independently on your laptop, phone, or iPad. The eLearning package includes videos, a computer simulator log, and quizzes. We ask that you watch the corresponding section of the video, read the appropriate chapter of the book, and complete a short knowledge review and quiz before attending the pool session each week. Your instructor will monitor your progress online and be available to answer any questions.

Course Schedule and Practical Sessions

Confined water dives commence each Tuesday evening, moving onto the practical aspects of diving. After a full dive briefing, students will set up their equipment under supervision and enter the pool with instructors and dive master’s to practice the skills demonstrated in the eLearning.

Upon completing all five-knowledge development and confined water sessions over five evenings, we will take you to open water for four dives to demonstrate mastery of the pool skills. These open water dives are conducted at one of the inland dive centres. Upon completion, you will be certified to dive to 18 meters worldwide. A non-refundable deposit of £100.00 per person is required upon booking, after which we will arrange delivery of your course materials.

Additional Costs

While the course fees cover most expenses, you will need to pay for entry to the dive sites and air fills during the open water portion of the course. Entry fees are typically £27.00 per day, and air fills are about £5.50 each, payable directly to the dive centre. Additionally, overnight accommodation is usually around £35.00 per night. All necessary equipment is included in the course fee.
